WBH Leaders Advance Beach Hockey Development During the FIH Hockey World Cup

August 2026 | World Beach Hockey

World Beach Hockey (WBH) President Victor Martínez-Arcelay and Secretary General Tito Eltanahy are in Belgium and the Netherlands during the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, representing WBH and taking the opportunity to connect with members of the international hockey community.

One of the highlights of their visit was an international meeting hosted by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), bringing together FIH President Mr. Tayyab IKRAM, representatives from more than 80 national federations, as well as international partners and sponsors.

During their time at the World Cup, Victor and Tito have held a series of meetings with national federations, hockey organisations and potential partners to discuss the continued development and promotion of Beach Hockey around the world.

The discussions have focused on strengthening international cooperation, creating new opportunities for Beach Hockey festivals and competitions, and supporting the development of WBH activities in different countries.

Victor has also participated in several meetings focused on the wider development of hockey and future international Beach Hockey events. His programme of meetings and discussions will continue through 31 August, alongside the final stages of the Men's and Women's World Cups.

Building the Future of Beach Hockey

Being present at the World Cup provides WBH with a valuable opportunity to build new relationships, exchange ideas and introduce Beach Hockey to an even wider international audience.

Our goal is to continue creating opportunities for players, clubs, coaches, referees, federations and associations to become part of the growing global Beach Hockey community.

WBH would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this visit and helped make these meetings possible.

A special thank you goes to the FIH for the invitation and hospitality, particularly FIH President Mr. Tayyab IKRAM, FIH Director Mike Joyce, and the entire FIH team. We also extend our sincere thanks to Belgium and the Netherlands for hosting this outstanding international hockey event.

The work continues

The World Cup visit marks another important step in WBH's international development. We look forward to building new partnerships, connecting with new countries and creating more opportunities for people around the world to discover, play and enjoy Beach Hockey.
